One of the things which most stood out to me during my Trich journey was the lack of a community and support groups which existed for this disorder. I felt totally alone dealing with this condition and one of the things which most helped me was when a girl from my school approached me to tell me she had Trich as well and knew what I was going through. This interaction helped me to see that I was not alone and that I want to be able to provide others with the same help. That is why I added a community aspect to this website where people can talk and discuss their conditions and feel like they have a support system which understands what they are going through. Another beneficial resource which provided me with a lot of support is the Reddit forum on Trichotillomania. This forum is another safe space for people to discuss and help each other deal with this disorder.

So I got Acrylic/fake nails and so far I have gone one day without pulling. I will see how far it goes. I’m going to try my best to keep going and resist the urges! Hope everyone is doing well!

So I know I have trichotillomania but have no official diagnosis. I don’t really want to tell my parents if possible, but every time I manage to stop, it starts up again when I get upset. So my question do you think it will help me if I tell my parents about it?

Today makes one week without pulling a single hair. By far this is the longest I have ever gone. I still am touching and twisting my hair quite a bit but honestly the urge to pull it out has lessened significantly in just a week.

Hi guys! How do you handle that annoying itch and does anyone know what it is? I typically pull from my hair and eyelashes and the other day I got a terrible itch on my eyebrow and pulled half of them out. It happens a lot w my eyelashes too..they grow back and that itch causes me to pull everything to get the itch! Ugh I feel absolutely crazy! lol thank you guys!

Hate how when I’m tired and stressed and seemingly unable to stop pulling that my brain decides if I have already started pulling out a substantial amount (of eyelashes), that I need to ‘finish the job’ and tear out everything. Does anyone else have this problem?

This started for me right around the time I started college. I never had the issue before then and it seemed to come out of nowhere. I have been a nail biter my whole life and I’m just now starting to get control over the habit. People have started to notice my eyebrows getting thinner and it frustrates me that I continue to do it.

I'm in college and I'm so anxious and I'm afraid I'm going to start pulling again. With the whole pandemic it makes things so complicated and its making me feel so anxious and upset. I don't want to go back to school.

So I need help finding out if I have trich. Recently I've been getting urges to scratch my scalp. This scratching often turns rough and causes my hair to fall out. I don't know if this is trich or something else but please let me know... it's been getting worse over time.

So during this pandemic I have decided that it would be best for me to try and stop my pulling. I pull from my eyebrows and I usually don't have any. But during covid my main mission has been to decrease or completely stop my pulling. I am proud to announce that after quarantining these last few months my eyebrows have started to grow back! I'm so happy with my progress and wanted to share :)

I am so proud of myself I didn't pull a single hair for 36 days. This is a huge accomplishment for me and I couldn't be happier. I hadn't been able to do this in yearsss.

Just like many of you here, trich for me has been a huge struggle. I pull from my head and hiding the patches has always been difficult. Through the years I've managed to overcome this condition and has become less of a deterrent for me. To those of you who recently found out you have trich, don't loose hope... always keep your head up and remember that this is a condition which with time and effort is manageable.

Trich has been something I have dealt with my whole life. It's great to see people bringing more awareness to this condition. Also it's wonderful to see a created sense of community and support that has come from this website.

Dear Ale, my compulsion gets much worse when I am under stress.....whether social (bullying) or grades. Do you know if Midfulness or Yoga might help?

Any advice on how to decrease my pulling. It's gotten really bad lately and I need help on stopping.

Hi! what are your views on wearing a wig to hide patches? I don't know if will make the condition worse?

Hello to whoever reads this... I realized that many people are asking how to help stop the urges. What has helped me over the years is distracting myself. So going out, changing my routine, or even just being around other people instead of just by myself helps to stop my urges. I find this distracts me so I don't think about my desire to pull.... hope this helps.

So I was wondering if any of you could give me some advice on how to hide my patches. I pull from my eyelashes....

Dealing with trich is difficult... especially since it is a condition not many people know about. I finally told my closest friends about it today and I am really proud of myself!

Hey everyone! I was just recently diagnosed with trich and I've been turning to internet communities for help. Do any of you have advice for how I can reduce pulling or stop urges because nothing my therapist says seems so work. Lmk!

This condition is one which is most commonly seen in women. So finding this forum which helps me meet and see other guys which have trich has been super helpful. Reading all of your stories has made me see this condition in a different way... and realize I shouldn't be as ashamed as I am about it.

This webpage is super helpful and a great resource to have discovered. I have dealt with trich for around 3 years now and this is the first time I find a page like this.

Hello everyone... Trich for me has been such a difficult thing to deal with. I never encountered anyone in my day to day life that went through the same thing as me. So I turned to the internet to find a community. First, I found the Reddit forum and that was so helpful. Now, finding 3 Percent has been equally as helpful. I think it's a great thing that we can all come together and form a community to help each other with our Trich.

Trich is a difficult condition to deal with. I've been dealing with it for almost 8 years and I have come to realize that it's a part of me. What I do to help my urges is... I try to get my mind off of it. Go for a walk or go out with friends. Just try to get your mind off of the stress or problem that is making you have urges. This always seems to work for me.

I only recently started dealing with Trich. Having found this page I am starting to understand the condition more. I pull from my eyebrows and it has been difficult to control my urges. However, reading everyone's stories has made me feel so much better.

Hi everyone. I am 22 years old and my trich is mostly concentrated on the back of my head. Lately, I have developed some patches that seem to be more permanent (hair is not growing back) Has any of you experienced this? are there any treatments?

This condition is one I have been dealing with all my life. Although there has been tough times I always try to overcome it. So far I think this part of me has changed me in unimaginable ways. Always remember you are stronger than Trich.

I cannot begun to thank you for this page. I am 15 years old, and have not been able to access any resource or information about this..... Alejandra, your story is inspiring! do you think I could reach out to share my story. I have been feeling so lonely and ashamed about this. No one understands and my school is in Hialeah where resources are so scarce they think I am making this up. Thank you!

My Trich started when I was 15. Now I'm 25 and it has been such a difficult part of my life. Overall, I have learned that it is something that will forever be a part of my life and I have dealt with it and grown from it. This website is so helpful because it truly provides a community like never before. Thanks 3%!
